Insurance Claims

From free documented inspection to final invoice — King Roofing walks your hail or wind claim through every step, including meeting the adjuster on your roof.

Insurance Claims

A roof insurance claim is won or lost on documentation and follow-through. Legitimate damage gets missed when nobody who knows roofs is standing next to the adjuster; approved scopes come in short when nobody checks them for missing components and code-required upgrades. King Roofing supports homeowners' claims for storm damage across Utah and Nebraska — and we've built the process around the steps that actually decide the outcome.

We're a GAF Master Elite contractor with 2,500+ Utah roofs completed, rated 4.6 stars across 200+ Google reviews, operating under Utah contractor license #12310406-5501. That's the kind of contractor you want attached to a claim your insurer will scrutinize.

Claim Types We Support

Most roof claims in our region trace back to four causes:

  • Hail damage: The most common claim driver in Nebraska and along the Wasatch Front — bruised shingles and granule loss that shorten roof life.
  • Wind damage: Missing or lifted shingles, lifted ridge caps, and blown-off flashing after high-wind events.
  • Fallen-tree and debris impact: Puncture and structural damage from limbs and wind-blown debris.
  • Ice dam damage: Water forced back under shingles by refreezing snowmelt in mountain and high-elevation climates.

How the Claim Process Works

Here's the typical flow from first call to finished roof — and where we fit at each step:

  • 1. Free roof inspection: We inspect the roof, document the damage with photos and measurements, and give you a written assessment — before you decide whether to file.
  • 2. File the claim: You file with your carrier; we provide the documentation they need.
  • 3. Adjuster meeting: We meet the carrier's adjuster on-site and walk the damage together. This is the single most important step for making sure legitimate damage is captured.
  • 4. Scope agreement: The adjuster issues a scope of work. We review it for accuracy — missing components, code-required upgrades — and submit supplements if needed.
  • 5. Contract and schedule: You sign the work agreement and we schedule the job.
  • 6. Install: Typically 1–3 days for a residential roof.
  • 7. Final invoicing: You're responsible for your deductible and any non-covered upgrades; we bill the insurer for the covered scope.

Why the Adjuster Meeting Matters

An adjuster sees a lot of roofs in a day, and subtle hail bruising or wind-lifted shingles are easy to under-scope from a quick walk. When we meet the adjuster on your roof, the damage we documented at inspection gets pointed out shingle by shingle, in person. And after the scope is issued, we check it against what the repair actually requires — including the code-required items that are commonly left off — and submit supplements where the scope falls short.

What We Won't Do: Your Deductible

King Roofing will not waive, absorb, or rebate your deductible. In most states — including Utah — doing so is illegal insurance fraud. A roofer who offers to "eat" your deductible is signaling a willingness to commit fraud on your claim; treat it as a serious red flag, not a discount.

If the deductible is a genuine obstacle, there's a legal answer: financing with low monthly payments and 0% interest options available.

Repair or Replacement — the Scope Decides

Depending on what the inspection and scope establish, a claim may cover targeted roof repair or a full roof replacement. Widespread hail or wind damage usually warrants replacement; isolated damage on an otherwise sound roof is usually a repair. Either way, the work is done to the same standard: every roof we install carries a 50-year unlimited wind warranty, and our workmanship guarantee applies to every installation.

Why Homeowners Bring Us Their Claims

The contractor on an insurance job needs to still exist when the warranty is tested. Federal labor data shows construction ranks among the lower-survival industries — a meaningful share of "lifetime warranty" promises will outlive the companies that made them. Our track record is the counterargument:

  • 2,500+ Utah roofs completed: Headquartered in Orem, licensed and insured in every state we operate in.
  • GAF Master Elite certification: Held by only a small percentage of U.S. roofing contractors.
  • 4.6 stars, 200+ Google reviews: From homeowners who can still find us after the job.
  • Nebraska, same standards: Nebraska requires contractor registration, but registration alone doesn't guarantee workmanship — we bring Utah's stricter-licensing standards to every Nebraska job.

Start With the Free Inspection

Don't file blind. Get the roof inspected and documented first, then decide — with real information — whether a claim makes sense. The inspection is free, the assessment is written, and the recommendation is honest either way.
